Australian alliance Agender, a platform for change for female photographers, has launched its second annual photographic exhibition ‘Balance for Better’. The exhibition is open from March 9 –31 to celebrate International Women’s Day. The Sydney exhibition is based on the 2019 IWD theme #balanceforbetter, and this year has tripled in size to showcase the talent of 22 of Australia’s most successful and talented female photographers, while drawing attention to the inequality in pay and diversity that affects the industry.
“Agender is a celebration of the great talent, wisdom and experience of female photographers. At the same time, our aim is to create new pathways for women at the start of their careers, and central to that is addressing the inequality in pay, diversity and opportunities given to women in the industry.” – Agender co-founder Cybele Malinowski.
“Balance is the answer in all aspects of our lives. I love to see work by both women and men as sometimes we have a different way of viewing the world. That difference should be celebrated and encouraged.” – photographer Leila Jeffreys
